SCH Academy has recently upgraded our Adobe Software from Creative Suite 6 (CS6) to Creative Cloud (CC). Creative Cloud is available to Students Grades 5-12 and Specific Arts/CEL Faculty.
In order for Creative Cloud to install and run properly you must ensure CS6 is uninstalled from your laptop first. Follow the steps in the article to get set up.
As always if you need any help please email us at tech@sch.org or visit either Tech Office - Room 72 in the MS Building & Room C-26 in the Inn.
Step 1: Uninstall CS6
We've created and deployed a tool that will automatically uninstall CS6 from all SCH Laptops without your interaction. However, for some the tool might not run automatically and needs to be ran manually. Open Self Service on your laptop and search "Uninstall Adobe CS6". When the option appears click "Uninstall" and wait for it to complete. If the option doesn't appear when you search for it in Self Service that's good! It means the tool ran automatically for you.
Step 2: Install the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App
The Adobe CC Desktop App is what allows you to install and uninstall the Adobe apps you need (i.e Photoshop, Illustrator, etc). After the uninstall of CS6 is complete, quit Self Service and reopen. Then Search for "Creative Cloud Desktop App" and click install. If the option to install the Desktop App doesn't appear you may need to reboot your laptop. Our system will only show the option to install the CC Desktop App if it detects CS6 has been fully uninstalled. Rebooting your laptop will help communicate to our system that CS6 is uninstalled.
Step 3: Signing into the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App
After Self Service finishes the installation of the CC Desktop App you'll find it in your "Applications" folder. Click to Launch it.
The CC Desktop App will install a small icon in the top right corner of your Menu Bar near the clock. You can click that icon to open the app at anytime. When open you'll see the login window. Use the Sign in with Google button
Clicking the Sign in with Google button will trigger your web browser (Chrome or Safari to open and it will bring you to a login in screen. Sign in using your full SCH email address and your email/laptop password. When the sign in is complete you'll see a screen like this letting you know you can close your web browser.
Step 4: Using the Creative Cloud Desktop App to Install Apps
Click the CC Desktop App icon in the top right of your menu bar to open the app. From here you may need to click the 'Apps' tabs. But this will take you to a full list of Adobe Apps available for you to install. Click "Install" next to the apps you need, allow them to install, and enjoy!
