As we roll out the latest Mac operating system, El Capitan 10.11 to all SCH laptops, one of things we'll need to address is the application "Cord". Cord is used for connecting to Windows servers, is no longer supported and does not function in Mac OS 10.11. Replacing Cord for us, will be Microsoft Remote Desktop. You can install Microsoft Remote Desktop by finding it in Self Service in the Utilities category. Once it's installed, check out this video for instruction on adding servers.
The "PC Name" you'll need to add for each server as described in the video is below:
The Education Edge - minnesota.sch.org
The Raisers Edge - nashville.sch.org
When connecting to each server, you might see "Verify Certificate" dialog box. So you don't get this every time you connect the server, go ahead and click on the "Show Certificate" button and put a check mark in the box for "Always Trust" and then click the Continue button.
A useful to tip for making your work with Remote Desktop more productive when switching between this app while connected to a Windows server in full screen mode and your other mac applications is to use the multi touch gesture, 3 finger swipe. More on gestures and the 3 finger swipe can be found here.
